CHILE: HAUNTED HOUSE BURNS TO THE GROUND
**The gruesome tales of the Mujica Mansion now lie in ashes***

For years it was the source of paranormal events and urban legends in the Chilean capital. Thanks to its majestic architecture, it was soon to be turned into a restaurant. But a fire, apparently arson, destroyed its mysterious past.

Neither the ghostly spirits from beyond nor the Nuñoa Fire Department, representing those on "this side", were able to keep the Mujica Mansion, better known as the "bewitched house", from burning mercilessly to the ground.

According to Carlos Gajardo, deputy D.A. of the communities of Nuñoa, Providencia and La Reina, the possibility that the fire, which started at 4 a.m., was the result of an electrical malfunction has been dismissed. "The information we have is that it could be arson. It is well known that this was an abandoned property and the main cause of fires, which can be short-circuits, are discarded in this case."

But what was the motive? This is the question that the fire department is unable to answer as of yet. What is clear is that the firebugs' intent was to destroy the famous mansion utterly.

"Destruction was complete. It was a very intense blaze that consumed the property completely. We are still investigating its causes and its point of origin," explained Denis Cohn, commander of the Nuñoa Fire Department.

The manse has attracted curiosity-seekers willing to hear the gruesome tales have been spread about it, and tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of some shadow moving across its windows. For this reason, and to keep any curiosity-seekers safe from injury, Cohn asked people to keep their distance because "the place was left in a very dangerous state. There is the risk of walls and ceilings caving in. All necessary  precautions to seal off the site have been taken."

The curse that weighs heavily over this dwelling is an old one. Its imposing architectural style was noteworthy when it was built in 1915 by the Suarez Mujica family on a 1,600 square meter plot of land that would serve as the seat of the owners of the vast estate that was Nuñoa at that time.  Elvira Suarez de Mujica, niece of the first owner of the house, lived there for more than a decade before her death. After her passing, the property was inherited by her seven children, who decided not to live there and leave it to the Charles & Aubrey brokerage firm. The mansion was on sale for years without any takers. Some say it was due to the exhorbitant asking price; others say that rascally ghosts kept future tenants away.

The latest story involving the house was earlier this year, when the Macal auctioneering firm took over the abandoned property to give it a better use. The mansion was valued at $148 million and finally sold for $300 million on July 27, 2005 to anonymous buyers.

Although the property is best remembered for its lugubrious, unkempt appearance, it was speculated that the mansion would be remodeled to be turned into a restaurant and special events facility. That was until this morning, when after hearing some strange noises, the night watchman who cared for the property realized the fire was out of control and fled his post.

Mystic phenomenon defies the Church
MARIAN APPARITIONS AND MESSAGES IN SALTA AND MENDOZA?
Man and woman summon crowds who attribute them with powers of divine intercession

They summon multitudes. They create an evident spiritual atmosphere. They say tht the Virgin appears before them and gives them messages calling for greater religious devotion among the faithful. Believers ascribe to them gifts -- or at least, the possibility that they may have them -- of intercession with Mary, or directly with Jesus Christ, to grant favors, generally healing. Many say that what they asked was granted to them, and many claim to have deepened their conversion and even that of their loved ones. In Salta, Maria Livia Galiano de Obeid, and in Mendoza, Manuel Yanzon are the protagonists of these potent mystic phenomena.

The Church promps extreme caution -- with allowances, as the case may be -- or directly rejects the existence of supernatural events. It even shows its displeasure because of the tendency among movements created around these events to abide by investigative processes and the ecclesiastical provisons that apply in these cases. Although it avoids outright prohibition, the Church feels particularly affected by these events as it evidences a spiritual search by many people who perhaps it cannot reach with its more formal structure.

The case involving the so-called Virgen del Cerro (Our Lady of the Mountain) in Salta is the oldest and also the strongest. The story began in 1990, when a married housewife with 3 children claimed having been visited by the Virgin. The image, according to the description, is different from other devotional images known. The woman allegedly receives messages from the Virgin, and in 1996, the spiritual entity told her that her image represents a new avocation: the Immaculate Mother of the Divine Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. An image was created around the vision described.

According to Maria Livia, the Virgin asked in the first apparitions that a shrine be built for her (the present hermitage of Shoenstatt, located at the foot of the mountain). She later asked that all messages be made known through a Carmelite abbey in the region. Later on, she asked that another sanctuary be built for her on top of the mountain, and that the site should become a evangelical center. [She asked] that a house be constructed for elderly priests; a seminary and a house for monks. But above all, she recommended working for conversion and the adoration of the eucharistic heart.

Increasingly more people congregated every Saturday around the image of the new avocation and of Maria Livia at the mountain, a privileged geographic site, beautiful and with a unique view of [the province of] Salta's capital city. Amid a powerful spiritual atmosphere, people congregated to pray, especially the Rosary, and to meditate on the messages received by the woman. With all of this, the most emotional moment is when Maria Livia prays a brief "prayer of intercession" for the intentions of the faithful, walking in front of them and placing her hand on their shoulder for a few seconds.

To many, this is a very powerful experience. Not a few collapse to the ground--even the nuns. Behind them, ever-attentive ushers keep people from being hurt during their falls. In fact, the organization is very prolix and seeks to preserve an atmosphere of prayer centered on a hermitage with the image of the new avocation. In fact, it is only possible to reach the summit on foot following a path along which the usher -- wearing white and blue kerchiefs -- offer water. Many report an scent of roses, which do not exist in the area.

The Archbishopric of Salta is extremely cautios. After the former archbishop--Msr. Moises Blanchoud -- allowed the diffusion of the messages received by Maria Livia, the current archbishop -- Msr. Mario Cargnello -- decided to deepen research at this stage of the phenomenon and to forbid the most recent messages from becoming known while they are studied. He also virtually forbade the "prayer of itnercession" in a pronouncement made 2 years ago: Cargnello made it clear that in his jurisdiction "no layman is authorized to perform the laying of hands."

Cargnello also questioned the messages, which he considered "revelations lacking content" and maintained that "the seeress's urge to be in the limelight is evident." He further stated that he was never informed of the results of the psychological exam requested from Maria Livia. "The woman and the Carmelite nuns did not comply with what the Church asked them to do," was the recent statement from the Archbishopric. Maria Livia's collaborators sent him a letter last month in which they deny that the results of the psychological test had been concealed and asked him to be more understanding toward the phenomenon.

The Mendoza case is more recent. It began on July 27, 2000 when Yanzón reported having seen his first apparition of the Virgin under the avocation of the Mystical Rose. Yanzón himself claims to have received messages, even requesting the construction of a sanctuary. Many visit him at El Agarrobal in the department of Las Heras in search of his reputed efficacy as an intercessor for finding impossible cures and other myracles. But he was recently deserted by a close collaborator who accused him of fraud.

Last May, the Archbishop of Mendoza, Jose Maria Arancibia, seriously questioned the authenticity of the phenomenon experienced by Yanzón. "There aren't sufficient reasons to acknowledge these alleged supernatural manifestations as genuine," he pointed out in a letter. He rejected the alleged messages on the grounds that "they contain serious errors and statemens contrary to the Catholic faith," but reserved his judgment on the grace that the faithful claim to have received.

He concluded his message with an incisive reflection:" We cannot cease to wonder what our God is telling us from El Algarrobal. What are we being told through the faces, hopes and supplications of so many of our brothers who, having heard of a possible manifestation of Mary, set out to reach that humble location? How may we hear the voice of the Spirit in all of this?"

ARGENTINA: BLACK MAGIC RITUAL TERRIFIES RESIDENTS OF BERNABE ARAOZ

*** Boxes containing animal heads were found on the pathway of a town square***
*** Incidents are repeating in the area; no one knows who the authors of the macabre act may be***

Panic. Mystery. Shock. A Satanic ritual has caused residents of Bernabe Araoz to lose sleep. As boxes concealing the heads of decapitated animals mystified local residents, many wondered if a curse could be underway.

Sunday morning was not just another morning for townspeople: the discovery left them astounded. On the pathway to the town square located in a nameless area of town, they found the neatly stacked boxes. They had no idea what they would find upon opening them: the heads of four goats and a pig, streaming blood, wrapped in multicolored paper surrounded by pochoclo, coins and written pieces of paper.

Macumba? Black magic? Residents cannot imagine who left these bizarre offerings. Many of them said that it was the third time in two years that these events have repeated themselves, which are common in Brazil for the casting of spells.

"My husband went outside and told me. That was early on, around 8:00. My son had come back at 4 and hadn't seen anything. This is the third time that this has happened. They also leave trays of fruit and bags of pochoclos. But they always do it silently. It's hard to see them," said a resident who wouldn't give her name out of fear.

Graciela Brito, who lives a few blocks from the site where the beheaded animals were found, said that a few months ago she saw an old woman accompanied by two youths. "The left a bagful of pochoclos and two soda bottles in a planter in the square," she said.

The locals are becoming afraid: Estela Zelaya reminisced that on several occasions she saw a white vehicle from which two men emerged and left fruit trays in the square. "I'm afraid that a dead person will turn up some day. The worst thing is that these events are senseless. We don't know why they do it, or who they are," she said.

The locals don't know what to think. Some believe that the perpetrators are a group of witchcraft adepts who chose this site for their rituals. Others say that they are individuals bent on harming local residents and businessmen for some unknown reason. When the police reached the site, the blood issuing from the animal heads was still liquid. This led investigators to believe that the goats and the pig had been beheaded only moments before they were left on the square. The case has been given to the 7th Prosecutor of Instructions Office, who will investigate the case.

"Strange stuff always happens here," claimed Mario Moreno as the police took the boxes away. Mystery has seized the square along with the mute fear that is expressed by the popular saying: "Witches don't exist, but they're there."

VENEZUELA: Authorities Arrest Women Involved in Satanic Ritual Slaying

A Caracas court ordered the arrest of a 19 year-old woman and her 44 year-old mother for the alleged murder of a 2 month old baby during a Satanic ritual held Monday.

The murder of the child -- nephew and grandson to both women -- was committed in a poor neighborhood of Caracas and was preceded by a ceremony in which, according to the press, a dog was sacrificed and its blood poured over the participants.

All versions agree that the "celebrant" of this ritual was Monica Castro, 19, the baby's aunt. The child was beaten to death after having been subjected to chilling torture.

Castro told police that she was incited by her sister Virginia, 29, the baby's mother, who was strangled 15 days ago under unclear circumstances. The mother allegedly ordered, from beyond the grave, that "the child be slain to give its soul to the devil."

The press notes that during a given moment of the ritual, Monica ran out to the street, nude and bathed in the dead dog's blood, screaming. Her shouts summoned neighbors who called the police. The authorities arrived just in time to keep Monica from being lynched when the child's death was discovered.

The court also ordered the arrest of Marisabel Suarez, her mother, for being present at the ceremony and doing nothing to stop it. A psychiatric exam has also been ordered for Monica.

Investigations began after a 15 year-old was arrested as the alleged murderer of his own mother, Miriam Padron, and of college student Lisseth Quintero on August 10, 2005.

The prosecutor's office recalled that Padron and Quintero were stabed 37 times.

Police, says the news item, found "a variety of artifacts employed in performing Satanic rituals."

PUERTO RICO: "GHOSTLY WOMAN" APPEARS IN LAJAS, PUERTO RICO
by Lucy Guzman, Ovni.net

On Tuesday, October 11, 2005, Enrique (Quique) Ortiz, a librarian with the La Parguera Library, phoned me to put me in touch with youhg Francisco Feliu, eyewitness to a ghostly manifestation that has been taking place since Saturday, October 8, 2005 on Route PR 101 in Barrio El Tendal, Lajas, Puerto RIco.

According to Francisco's report, and the reports of dozens of witnesses interviewed by this research team (consisting of Andrew Alvarez, Orlando Pla, Ana Rios, Daniel Altieri and the undersigned, Lucy Guzman), indicate that the manifestation occurs between 12 midnight and 04:00 hours, approximately.

The legend states that a woman died in a car accident in the 1990s. A cross was placed on the site, and that a horse tore up the cross with its reins. The woman has been appearing since then.

On the morning of October 13, at 1:58 a.m., Francisco phoned me full of excitement, as he was at the scene of the events and the manifestation was taking place. I was able to speak to the police officers and other eyewitnesses on site, and listen to the reactions of those present at the time. The police barred anyone from approaching the bridge. I spoke with officer Alexis Salinas over the cell phone, being the officer on duty at the time, who confirmed the apparition was taking place. I requested authorization to have  Robert (Bebé) Adley and Edward Camacho (a 22 year-old student from Universidad de Mayagüez and a resident of La Parguera, Lajas, P.R.) to visit the bridge and document the phenomenon, which he accepted. With Bebe on the bridge, Edward approached him, all the while documenting the apparition on videotape. Those present could see how the "mysterious woman" came out to the highway, circled Bebe, withdrew, went away, etc. Bebe was unable to see her, but those standing further away, at a 70 foot distance, could see her and hear her scream, calling for her mother or for "Pablo". Edward's video camera was also able to capture the image and record the screams.

A description of what was seen on the 11th, according to eyewitness testimony:

If there is someone on the bridge, or seated on its edge, the woman will sit beside him/her but cannot be seen. However, those standing some 70 feet away can see her as a normal person, which is to say, fully materialized but without a face or feet. They can alert those beside her, but they cannot see her.

- The apparition always appears in an extremely clean white robe
- The clothing moves, or she smoothes it out
- She walks both slowly and quickly
- There is no face visible; she tosses her hair over her face
- Feet cannot be seen
- She claps
- Has very long black hair
- Cries loudly (a scream or cry can be heard when she first appears)
- Laughs
- Shouts out names like:  María, Pablo, Carlos, Mamá, Papá, always dragging the final syllable
- Jumps
- Dances
- Hides
- Jumps backward off the bridge (there is a small stream and a large pipe under the bridge from which she jumps)
- Leaves no footprints
- Drags her feet
- Walks the perimeter some 20 feet
- Materializes behind trees, bridge or on the highway
- Falls to the ground in a fetal position
- Some say she looks like [character from] Lord of the Rings
- Floats with feet in the air
- Those who visit the site perceive a smell of sulfur. They compare the odor to that of charcoal when smoking an item. The odor adheres to the skin and clothing of those who stand near her.
- Temperature drops when she appears
- Figure appears to crawl.

[The figure] never leaves the bridge area, moving exclusively in that area. People keep away for this very reason, although on some occasions they had the impression that she was approaching them, but withdrew.

On the night of October 13 to the early hours of October 14, our research team went to investigate this apparition. At least a thousand people had congregated that evening. Lt. Villanueva had to file a complaint in order to justify calling in more police reinforcements and the Crash Squad. There were no manifestations that evening, but our camcorders managed to pick up some anomalies that are currently under analysis.

The apparition and diffusion [of this case] in all news media has caused the number of curiosity seekers to jump from 20 on Saturday to over 1000 the next Friday. This has caused municipal, state, crash squad and emergency management personnel to be mobilized, and having floodlights placed throughout the area. The site has turned into a town fair that attracts thousands and where T-shirts bearing a drawing of the ghostly woman are sold, along with refreshments, shish kebabs, water, pineapples and other treats.

Camacho's video has already been analyzed and was submitted for validation. We are also in the process (thanks to the collaboration of officer Alexis Salinas,  Karina Guerra Mayoral, Dennis Rivera Santiago and the relatives of the young woman who died on the spot in the 1990s) of researching the information on the accident that took place at the location.

We must return to the site, but when so many thousands of people have stopped visiting it. The conclusions of the investigation will be made known in due time.

Engimatic Manifestations of "Imps" Return to Paraná

Residents of the Antartida Argentina district reported with emotional credibility the strange manifestation of "imps", which according to thier accounts, climb up and down trees and "hurl stones like while flower buds"

In the Paraná neighborhood known as Antartida Argentina, in the northwestern area of Paraná and close to the municipal dump, local residents reported to a Canal Once camera crew the appearance of "white imps" that began to appear on the afternon of Thursday, December 29, 2005.

According to their bemused  testimony, "the neighborhood children would throw rocks at them and these would be returned with remarkable swiftness." The "imps" replied violently with a barrage of their own. They pummeled the children and some other locals with not very severe bumps and brusies.

The phenomenon has been repeating itself every night from Thursday December 29 onward. "It starts around 8 and ends around 2 in the morning."

It all began because [the locals] have a neighbohood Christmas tree that they put up every year. When they tried to take it down, the "dwarves" manifested themseves and expressed their disapproval. "When we turned off the lights they would get angry and toss stones. They would calm down when they were turned on again."

At first, seeing that the strange "white imps" were living in the trees, they chopped down some of them but "the dwarves were enraged and began throwing stones. It was then we called the Police to do something."

According to a local resident, the phenomenon was witnessed by some "800 to 900 people who were there until 2 in the morning," among them a considerable number of children. When the Police arrived, the locals said that Patrolman 97, allegedly belonging to the 5th Sheriff's Office, was accosted by the strange beings. "He wanted to light up the area with his spotlight and the light was reflected as if by a mirror," said Ricardo.

Policemen began to fire their guns toward the place occupied by the "imps" and in return, these entities "began throwing stones. It was like a shower of them and only the police officers were being hit. Not even the locals and the kids who were there were impacted," he added. "There were so many stones that the cops had to go."

Neighborhood children consulted by Canal Once said [the beings] were "small, white and lolled their tongues. They looked like people and their hands were small," said a girl who claimed having seen them up close.

"There were seven of them. One was on the roof and jumped onto a tree," added the gir, with a broad smile and showing no fear.

"We cleared off the area completely in order to get them out of the trees. We surrounded them. Some had them close enough at hand to grab," said a neighbor. "We felt somewhat of a chill, because they didn't hit us with stones, but they hit the police a lot. The kids provoked [the creatures], threw rocks at them and had them returned. If you threw a brick, they'd throw it back," he explained with concern.

The aggression by the "white imps" against the neighbors were not significant, althoug some said that the children emerged "with bumps and bruises [from rock impacts]; they were scared and even the boldest of them took off running."

"This isn't a gag by somebody. This is real. No one made it up. The kids are scared and I tell them not to be frightened, since [the creatures] could be angels," continued the neighbor, noting that "many people have said prayers about this".

"It's as though the wanted to play, because with the number of rocks thrown, there should have been blood and no one was injured." The neighbor explained that the entire place was weeded out and some trees were chopped down to ascertain "what was hiding in the place."

Other neighborhood children told Canal Once that "we saw them running across the treetops and the way they returned the stones we were throwing at them." They added that the stones were thrown by "imps like white flowerbuds falling from the trees, and the very same stones we threw were coming out of that location."

The youngest girl finally added that "they were in the trees and mocking us."

Exorcism Requested in Imp Manifestations

A mentalist provided some explanations about the manifestations of imps that residents of the Antartida Argentina neighborhood claim to have witnessed in the area near the municipal dump of Paraná.

Ricardo Pereira, a mentalist from Paraná, told Canal Once that "the origin of these imps is German and they are normally mistaken and given different names in different religions: They are known as Kiumba in the Umbanda religion; Judaism normally refers to them as the Egreo (sic), and they are entities that are unable to tell the difference between good and evil. These imps may adopt a given form so that children in particular can see them."

Pereira told Canal Once that "one must we very careful with them."  Most people who claim having seen the white imps in the Paraná neighborhood are kids and grownups claimed to see the tree branches swaying, but didn't see them. With regard to this, Pereira argued that "kids are more receptive than adults, since during the day, the latter are too worried about money, social problems and raising the family. On the other hand, kids are more open to play and dialogue. For that reason children can see them and adults cannot."

Regarding the reasons for this phenomenon, the mentalist suggested the possibility that "perhaps some rituals of a given religion were performed in the area where the imps are appearing, and certain offerings may have been made to attract their attention in order to use them for both good and evil, as these imps do not distinguish at all between good and evil," said Pereira. With regard to this characteristic of imps, the mentalist added that "if an imp sees that amusement may be had in striking a child or tugging his/her hair, it will do so. Wherever imps play, they have fun, since they cannot differentiate between good and evil."

Mentalist Pereira said that "the relationship between imps and children can be very dangerous, in fact", hastening to add: "We are not talking about angels - they're imps. While children can see them wearing the clothing and aspect of small clowns, this does not make them good. They are bad, and great care must be taken in they way they move and how they act."

Pereira related the practice of dark rituals to the phenomenon's manifestation. "There are people who summon these entities to do harm, in the same way we appeal to our faith to heal a sick person."

As to the origin of the phenomenon being witnessed by residents of Antartida Argentina, the mentalist explained that "someone opened a small portal. Human beings are from the third dimension, and for this reason we need a great deal of effects to be able to visualize them. The white imps are from the second dimension and cannot distinguish between dimensions. Someone opened a portal and has allowed them to go from one dimension to the next; if it isn't closed, these [events] will continue to occur."

Pereira says the following about the episode involving police in which--according to neighbors-- law enforcement was injured by stones thrown by the garbage dump's imps after shots were fired against them. "If the imps are met with violence, they will retaliate with violence. They cannot be harmed regardless of how intense the police attacked them, because they are from another dimension that brushes against our own."

Regarding the Paraná police department's decision not to issue an opinion or report on the subject, the mentalist said that "it seems logical, as the police does not employ its specialized qualities and knowledge in dealing with this type of phenomenon. It is only fitting that no report should be issued, as they should be aware of what it is they are dealing with."

In closing his dialogue with Canal Once, Pereira advised resorting to the Church in confronting the apparitions of imps, and requested that the area be exorcised of all manfestations. "I believe that the best thing to do is to have a priest visit the site of these events, as it is the best way to close down these portals. Today, I would recommend Church involvement, because there are priests at the Cathedral who can easily perform an exorcism."

Priest Performs Blessing at Location of Imp Sightings

Residents of Parana's Antartida Argentina district requested the presence of the parish priest of the Our Lady of Guadalupe church in order to receive spiritual assistance after the alleged apparition of imps.

Under these circumstances, Father Eduardo went to their homes, performed several prayers, blessed the site and sprinkled holy water in the homes and trees where the strange figures were seen "with the purpose of calming the spirits seen."

Neighbors said: "Following the manifestation of the imps and their exposure in the media, we began to feel fear. For this reason we asked the parish priest to assist us."

Once the subject became widely known, "many people came by and notified others. There were even mentalists or parapsychologists who gave their opinions on radio and other media," said one of the spokeswomen for the group, who swears having seen seven imps on Friday, December 30, who attached personnel from the Fifth Sheriff's Office with stones during the moment of greatest tension. The fact itself was not confirmed by the authorities, but they did agree to note that something threw stones at them from the dark.

The local parish priest, who requested that his name not be published "due to hierarchical matters", remarked that "one must be careful with the things that are being said. Some remarks must be taken with a pinch of salt and without saying that anyone is lying, it can be understood that there is a great deal of fantasy in these remarks."

"The subject of imps has no logic and cannot be rationally explained. I know that some people came to church asking for spiritual assistance," he summarized.

He made it clear that "It is very strange [for people to say] that they flew and turned up everywhere. Therefore they will continue to believe in this, which borders on fantasy."

On the other hand, he cautioned that "no one has requested an exorcism, but this can only be authorized by the local bishop when faced with definite proof of the Devil's presence. From what we were told, there is nothing diabolical or related to evil in this place."

Along these lines, he differentiated between "assistance to souls in purgatory, which must be aided through prayer; but to go from there to say that [that they can turn] into imps is another story."

Another resident told Diario Uno that in the canyon area "men and women can be seen involved in strange things, such as practicing some sort of rituals like Umbanda, which request the presence of spirits for doing good and evil."

ARGENTINA: THE HOUSE WHERE OBJECTS MOVE BY THEMSELVES

***Phenomena ascribed to 12 year-old girl; neighbors and policemen are witnesses***

This has nothing to do with a horror film like Poltergeist or the Exorcist. But the trite phrase: "Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction" would appear to apply perfectly to this story. According to neighbors and the dwellers of a humble home in Barrio Belgrano, a series of episodes that could be classified as paranormal has taken place ever since a 12 year-old girl produced the involuntary movement or floating of several objects. Flying flowerpots, fans crashing to the floor, levitating glasses, furniture and bathroom items moving suddenly, all caused this family to seek the aid of the police, priests, evangelical preachers, parapsychologists and psychiatrist to help the teenager to feel contained while the strange phenomenon is explained.

According to her parents, Daiana, the protagonist of the story, "is a normal child; she plays and goes to school" and her neighbors see her as "an untroubled pre-teen". Although her parents admit that she was "under psychiatric treatment at the Provincial Hospital for several months because she couldn't sleep, she wandered and had discipline problems in school."

Marcelo Portnoi is the father. He is 47 and works as a mechanic, living with his wife Mirta and 6 other children for over 32 years in a house on 1855 Garzón St. "We fight her every day," he said, but the latest events have caused concern among the family.

"For over two months, strange things have been going on inside the house, albeit minor and insignificant ones. One could hear the noise of moving chairs or water running in the bathroom," he said. But upon investigation, everything seemed to be normal.

Even so, what took place between Friday and Saturday outstripped his sense of wonder, prompting Daiana's parents to rush to neighbors and the police for aid. "The girl poured herself a glass of juice and when she turned around and walked four steps, the mate (popular Argentinean beverage) flew through the air and hit her on the head while her back was turned," explained the still-amazed head of household.

Immediately after, the pre-teen's mother described the time in which they were completly overwhelmed by the circumstances. "I approached the room where my youngest son was sleeping, because I couldn't sleep. I asked Daiana to stay with my nephew Isaias. When she got out of bed, the electric fan automatically crashed to the ground. She walked past a table lamp and it began to shake, as well as the highboy. We didn't know what else to do," she recalled. In that instance, her desperate husband took to the street to summon the neighbors.

Upon returning, he sat in an armchair beside a bronze and glass crucifix. "I had to hold onto something in order for the movement to cease," explained the man. A neighbor arrived to offer assistance and "no sooner had he entered, the cross levitated, fell down with the image of Jesus facing forward, and shattered to bits."

"I have no reason to lie. This is my daughter, I want to help her and I'm not looking for any benefits out of this," said Marcelo at the door to his home, feeling a bit more serene because "Daiana is with an aunt to keep the press from harassing her."

Patrolmen from the "Comando Radioelectrico" arrived on Saturday midnight and got out of their vehicle to ascertain what was going on. "While my daughter was seated on the toilet, the "bacha" spun on its axis and fell as she was leaving. All of that, plus the fall of a table and a TV set, was witnessed by the offcers," Marcelo added, making it known that he and his relatives weren't the only witnesses.

According to Portnoi, after those incidents, his daughter "ran out to the street in a fright". At that time, a medium-sized flowerpot located in the backyard "levitated and followed her, but then fell." A policeman was so shocked that he ran toward the street, but the door slammed shut after Daiana had gone through it."

The girl asked her mother for help on repeated occasions because she allegedly heard "voices". Meanwhile, Marcelo and Mirta await professional help to safeguard their child's health.

GHOST WOMAN TERRIFIES SANTA FE VILLAGE

An apparition dressed in white has caused a commotion in the locality of Frontera, where children refuse to go to school because they saw the figure during school hours when it entered a classroom. Garbage collectors refuse to work at night. They are unsure as to whether or not the apparition is malign.

Manifestations of a female image dressed in white, like a bride, has startled residents of the town of Frontera in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Residents claim that the figure appears for a matter of seconds and then vanishes without a trace.

Father Victor Balanguero of the parish of Our Lady of Fátima led a procession in which approximately fifty people walked through the streets, reciting prayers.

The presence of this woman in white caused  a psychosis among the population: during the procession, it was possible to see women scattering holy water against houses to chase away the spirit.

Balangero told the La Voz del Interior newspaper that he agreed to accompany the people because he was motivated by the anguish and despair that some of the faithful feel with regard to this mysterious presence.

The religious said that "the majority of the eyewitness accounts coincide on the physiognomy, clothing and mannerisims" and remarked that "at no time did anyone say that the image had approached them or tried to harm them."

A young woman said that she was with her boyfriend when she saw the image of a woman dressed in white. "It made no sound whatsoever, moved forward and backward, until it finally vanished into a wall," she said.

Furthermore, it is said that the enigmatic woman appeared in a school classroom, and while teachers endeavored to dispel rumors of the apparition, "many kids do not want to go to class out of fear for the spirit."

Even garbage collectors have refused to cover the area where the image was seen and asked permission to do their job by the light of day.

MEXICO: STRANGE BEING IN SOMBRERETILLO DAM?

A photograph taken at the Sombreretillo Dam, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

Evidence provided by Dr. Efren Sauceda Tello, June 4, 2006

Eyewitness account:

"On Sunday June 4 I went fishing in the dam accompanied by my cousin Jose E. Garcia. We arrived at 2:30 pm and I brought my Canon Powershot A-95 along with me.

"At around 5 pm we got ready to head back home, so we put things in my boat. Since we were in the southern region of the dam, where aquatic lilies are in abundance, there's no way of getting through that isn't by boat.

"When we left the dam, there were people getting ready to board their kayaks and it occurred to me to take a photo from that location...I saw nothing unusual until I checked the computer and noticed that in one of them something similar to a creature in black could be seen, watching the people in the boat."

MEXICO: FACE OF JESUS APPEARS IN VERACRUZ CHURCH?
The Face of Jesus?

Lic. Juan Manuel Lagunes Aguirre managed to videotape and photograph this image within the Jesus of Nazareth chruch in the Mexican port city of Veracruz.

According to his report, the figure formed on December 27, 2004, one day after the tragic seaquake in Indonesia and it is beleived to represent the face of Jesus Christ, adding that the image is three dimensional on account of the shadows it also includes.

Testimonio:

"I've been interested in UFOs since the age of 6 and I've been seeking answars to what has been appearing of late. Only recenlty, halfway through the Rosary in this very same church, there was a sighting of a luminous sphere that crossed the skies from west to east. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me on that day to record the evidence."

Pterosaur-like Creatures Reported in Papua New Guinea
7/20/06

Intermittent expeditions on Umboi Island, Papua New Guinea, from 1994 through 2004, resulted in the compilation of eyewitness testimonies that substantiated a hypothesis that pterosaurs may not be extinct.

Long Beach, Calif. (PRWEB) July 20, 2006 -- The conflict between evolution and creation took a new form with an investigation of reports of a pterosaur-like creature in Papua New Guinea. According to standard models of science, all pterosaurs became extinct by about 65-million years ago, but traditional interpretations of the Bible suggest that they lived in human times. According to Jonathan Whitcomb, a forensic videographer who interviewed native islanders in 2004, the "ropen" of Umboi Island is at least similar to a long-tailed pterosaur.

He maintains that the creationists who explored the island intermittently from 1994 through 2002 were not overly imaginative in believing the creature to be a pterosaur. According to Whitcomb's new book, "Searching for Ropens," there are many similarities between American, Australian, and native eyewitness accounts. Ropens appear featherless with long tails, and reports indicate they eat fish.

Whitcomb, from Long Beach, California, disputes an old idea that they are misidentifications of Flying Fox fruit bats. Two natives described a ropen holding itself upright on a tree trunk (fruit bats hang upside down from branches), and his book also describes an apparently bioluminescent glow that may help the nocturnal creatures catch fish.

The puzzle for the creationist investigators is that they're unlike Rhamphorhynchoid pterosaur fossils in some ways: A few ropens are too large and have dorsal ridges along the back. In addition, some eyewitnesses report a head crest on the ropen while few long-tailed pterosaur fossils have such appendages.

Although Whitcomb admits having no photograph to disprove textbook declarations that all pterosaurs are extinct, he disputes the idea that the ropen is an unknown bat. His book examines an investigation by the explorers Garth Guessman, a Southern California firefighter; and David Woetzel, a New Hampshire businessman. Their 2004 expedition, a few weeks after Whitcomb's, uncovered a native tradition about the ropen's tail: It moves only near the tail's base. This, says Guessman, relates to Rhamphorhynchoid pterosaur anatomy.

Before his expedition to Papua New Guinea, Whitcomb questioned Duane Hodgkinson, a flight instructor in Livingston, Montana, who maintains he saw a large "pterodactyl" in 1944, near Finschhafen. The World War II veteran's description resembles that given by a couple who saw a creature flying over Perth, Australia, in 1997. Whitcomb also noted similarities to native accounts recorded by earlier explorers on Umboi Island between 1994 and 2002.

Whitcomb found no indication of any hallucination or hoax with the two Australians and the American veteran. He also noted that the native eyewitnesses he interviewed mentioned no supernatural elements and that their descriptions resemble those given by the Westerners.

Around Manus Island, the wingspan is three to four feet, according to Jim Blume, a missionary in Wau, on the mainland. Blume's investigations indicate that wingspans may reach ten to fifteen feet in other areas. Whitcomb's book mentions a few ropens that are even larger, including the ones seen by Hodgkinson and the Australian couple.

The book acknowledges differences between the ropen and Rhamphorhynchoid fossils but it emphasizes that the "diamond" on the ropen's tail may relate to the fossil tails.

Whitcomb, a 57-year-old independent videographer who records evidence for attorney firms, completed his book after one year of compiling and analyzing eyewitness testimonies. He encourages a major expedition to videotape a ropen before the end of 2007.

COSTA RICA: "PHANTOM LADY" APPEARS IN SAN JOSE's SAPRISSA STADIUM

Ghost frightened two sports officials before kicking off a game between Costa Rica's Saprissa and Nicaragua's Estelí Real

San Jose (EFE) - Two Central American sports officials were "frightened" on Tuesday night by a "phantom lady" who vanished before their eyes when they followed her to ask her to leave San José's Ricardo Saprissa Stadium.

The unusual event took place before the game for the Central American Soccer Union's Cup (UNCAF) between Costa Rica's Saprissa and the Real Estelí, which had to be played behind close doors due to penalties imposed by CONCACAF.

In a statement made to "Radio Monumental", Mario Escobar, the UNCAF delegate, claimed to have seen, while in the company of Jorge Alarcon, the Saprissa's general manager, nine people in the skybox. Among them was woman dressed in white, approximately 30 years old.

Escobar asked the people to leave the stadium as a closed game was about to be played, but the woman entered an empty broadcasting booth. The official followed her straightway, only to be startled by the fact that there was no one inside the booth at all.

"I don't know how to explain it. When we said that no unaccredited personnel could be there, she went into the booth (...). I was three meters away and thought that she was being concealed, but she went into the booth and there's no bathroom in which to hide."

Sports commentators broadcasting the event had fun with this "otherworldly story"; the game ended with a 1-0 victory by Saprissa over Estelí in what was a low-quality match.

MEXICO: POLICEMAN REPORTS SEEING "TWO WITCHES"
***Although the sighting took place weeks ago, he made it known this morning***

Monterrey, Mexico (18 Sept 06) - A policeman from Santa Catarina claimed having seen two witches while on a routine patrol near a graveyard several months ago. He only made this information known today.

Gerardo Garza Carbajal explained his experience with the supernatural very near the Panteon Municipal, a few meters from the road to Villa Garcia. "It was nighttime, I stayed behind to stand guard on my own and suddenly someone started pelting me with stones. Then I saw two people with wings and wrinked faces."

"I was so scared that I got into my squad car. I could hear them laughing in an ugly way, flying a short distance. I thought they were witches--I saw them very close," said the officer, who has a long service record with the local police.

Garza Carbajal said that he immediately requested backup, and in a matter of minutes was surrounded by several municipal police cars even some from the Ministerial Police.

"The witches flew off, but the police officers who came to my aid saw what I saw. They can attest to the fact that I didn't imagine anything. What I saw was real. I'd never been so scared before," said the officer. He added that he was subsequently taken to a medical center, since his blood pressure dropped excessively. He soon recovered from the powerful shock.

Witnesses to this event stated that they do not know for sure if two witches were involved, but are indeed certain that they have no explanation for this phenomenon.
